BeluxCham attended the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF)

On 21/06/2022, Mr. Guy Balza โ€“ Vice Chairman of BeluxCham Vietnam and BeluxChamโ€™s members attended the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) with the topic “Post – Pandemic recovery, how digital innovation drives growth in our community”.

At the event, The ICF – a forum of nearly 200 prosperous smart cities in the world, officially honoured Binh Duong as one of the Top 7 communities with a typical Smart City Development Strategy in the world in 2022.

ICF has conducted research and evaluated hundreds of cities around the world, selecting the Top 21 (SMART 21). After that, continue to compare and evaluate thoroughly, directly and indirectly with 6 criteria, including: connection – broadband; workforce; innovation; equal access to digital; encouraging and sustainable support, thereby selecting the Top 7 cities with the smartest development strategies.

This is the second time in a row that Binh Duong province has been recognized by the World Smart Community Forum as one of the top 7 communities with smart development strategies in the world. Previously, this province also had 4 consecutive times in the Top 21 (Smart 21).

Since 2011, with the efforts and support from Becamex IDC Corporation, Binh Duong has started an impressive journey of socio-economic development, digital transformation application and innovation in specific projects.

Up to now, a digital and innovation ecosystem is being strongly developed, such as: Smart Operations Center, EIU Campus with Becamex Business Incubator, Fablab, Advanced Manufacturing Center; World Trade Center WTCโ€ฆ

Currently, Binh Duong province continues to develop Smart City projects through the development of specific projects for each field, in line with the national development strategy, directly solving existing challenges with 5 contents: Urban planning and public transport infrastructure; building a culture of innovation; balanced economic development; digital transformation and industrial development 4.0; human resource development.

Beluxcham Mekong Delta Bamboo Biking Tours For Charity

On 04-05 June 2022, BeluxCham and Mekong Plus successful organized the Mekong Delta Bamboo Biking Tours for Charity. We had crossed many country roads, enjoyed delicious local food and especially, learned about the local peopleโ€™s lives in the Mekong Delta.

Each situation is a different story about rural life in the Mekong River Delta and the enduring efforts of Mekong Plus with the goal of no more underprivileged local people. The optimism and warm hospitality of the people here have left many beautiful memories for our members.

With the donation from BeluxCham and our members, 40 children can go to school for another year.

The BeluxCham 2022 Vietnam Annual General Meeting

The BeluxCham Vietnam Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Monday, 07th March 2022 at Belgo โ€“ Phan Xich Long with a total of 35 members attending both online and in person. During our AGM, Mr. Bart Verheyen โ€“ BeluxCham Chairman shared an update on the BeluxCham Statutes, reports of BeluxCham Vietnam activities over the past year, membership overview and an outlook of our upcoming events for the new year. A financial review of 2021 and the budget of 2022 was also given to members.
It was a privilege to have with us Mr. Paul Jansen – Belgian Ambassador, Mr. Marc RIFFLET – Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Gricha Safarian – Honorary Consul of Belgium in Ho Chi Minh City and Mr. Eric Bletard – the Economic and Commercial Counsellor at AWEX.

Follow-up meeting between the Chairman of BeluxCham Vietnam and Ambassador of Vietnam to Belgium and Luxembourg

On 17 January 2022, Mr. Bart Verheyen – Chairman of BeluxCham Vietnam had a meeting with H.E. Mr. Nguyen Van Thao – Ambassador of Vietnam to Belgium and Luxembourg/Head of the Mission of Vietnam to the European Union.

Both men met to follow up on their previous meeting last November 2021.

After Mr. Bart`s debriefing on his visit to Luxembourg, Mr. Thao and Mr. Bart fine-tuned the key areas of cooperation for 2022-2023 between the VN Embassy in Brussels and BeluxCham. Both the Ambassador and Mr. Bart reconfirmed their strong commitment to supporting each other to achieve a successful outcome in several joint projects.
